With Easter only 2 weeks away, I thought I’d share an alternative gift idea for those of you who’d like something a little different to the usual chocolate bunny. These hot cocoa gift jars could also be a fabulous Mother’s day gift or used as wedding favors, and are super simple to put together.
- Glass Jars
- Drinking chocolate/cocoa
- Choc bits
- Mini marshmallows
- Thick sewing needle
- Thread or ribbon
- Printable gift tags (available for FREE when you subscribe to the PS newsletter!)
Step 1 – Layer your ingredients
Scoop in some of the drinking chocolate/cocoa, making sure the top is fairly flat. Use a spoon to gently spread your choc bits on top, then pour in some marshmallows. I gently pressed the marshmallow layer to make it more flat, so that the cocoa didn’t fall through the gaps.
Repeat each layer again, and end in a final layer of drinking chocolate/cocoa. Flatten out the top with the back of a spoon.
Step 2 – Gift tags
Print out your gift tags and cut them out with a pair of scissors. Thread your sewing needle with your choice of yarn or thin ribbon, then pierce a hole through the top of the gift tag and pull through your thread. Place the thread around your glass jar to make sure it’s long enough (remember to measure some extra length for tying a bow) and cut to size, then tie the thread in place. All done!
